About Me
Hi, I’m Claudia! A recent alumna of UC Santa Barbara, trying to navigate adulthood and womanhood while saying goodbye to my final years of adolescence.
I can’t wait to venture on this
journey with you
My Story
I was born and raised in the East Bay of California, but have been moving around since I can remember! Whether it be traveling throughout the country, abroad, or transferring schools, life seemed to move faster than my mind could keep up. At times, this has caused some disarray but writing and talking through those moments are what really helped during those adjustment periods…
Which brings me here! I’m so glad you’ve made your way here. My hope is that this will be a place for us to grow together from similar experiences and sentiments.
Some things you may not know about me…
I was on the US Junior National Karate Team for 3 years and competed across the globe.
I started karate when I was 8 years old and competed at the elite level until I was 16. Karate taught me a lot: discipline, inner confidence, etiquette, early international experience to Peru, Argentina, and Ecuador. Plus, it’s a really cool fun fact.
I moved out when I was 16 years old and lived across the country for my last two years of high school. It was surreal, challenging beyond belief, completely worth taking an extra year of schooling. Yep, I did 5 years of high school. And I had a COVID-19 graduation.
I attended boarding school for two years in New Hampshire.
I wrote an essay to persuade my mom to get a dog in middle school.
And it worked.
Growing up, I never imagined being a good writer or even enjoying it for that matter. But one of the earliest moments when I witnessed the power of writing was when I wrote an essay to get a dog. Freyda is now 9 years old and has been my best friend since.
Though, perhaps that’s all it took to plant the little seed in my brain that writing was a possibility for me. It took till the end of high school to fall in love with writing.
